How do I use JHIM from outside the Hopkins network or on a Blackberry/PDA? Use the webaccess version of LCS: JHIM can be accessed through the web at: https://jhimweb.johnshopkins.edu Please note: voice and video is NOT supported in the web version. Using the Office Communicator client on a computer outside of the Hopkins network: Please use one of the following 2 options: 1. install the communicator client, and use the Hopkins VPN software...use the same server settings provided on the web site. 2. install the communicator client, use a different server setting in the client setup: - in the upper left hand corner, click "Connect" then "Change-Sign In Account" - click "Advanced", enter a server address of: jhim.johnshopkins.edu:443 - Under "Connect Using", choose "TLS" Accessing JHIM via a Blackberry: Before you can use JHIM on the Blackberry: You must be using a Blackberry supported by Johns Hopkins Telecommunications & Enterprise Messaging groups with an account on a Blackberry Enterprise Server. You must be using the Hopkins instant messenger application on your desktop computer. From the Office Communicator main screen on your desktop computer, click "Connect", then click "Change Sign-In Account". You will see an email address listed in the "Sign-in name" field. This is the value you need to enter in the "Sign-in name" field on the Blackberry. User name In almost all cases, the "User name" is the same as your JHED ID. You must be logging into the enterprise Active Directory (ie...WIN domain) system for the instant messaging application to work correctly. If you login with anything other your JHED ID, you will need to use ID. In either case you must enter the "win\" in front of your JHED ID. For example: win\jdoe3 is the proper syntax for user name.
