Audio Visual Requests

The Audio Visual Services (AVS) group of IT@JH offer a wide range of audio visual services throughout The Johns Hopkins University, specifically the Homewood campus.  Theses services include the delivery and setup of conference communications technology for meetings, conferences, courses, and special events.

Our staff also provide consultation services relating to presentation technologies or a simple advisory role on the best type of equipment for a given service.

AVS provides equipment at no cost for undergraduate courses. All equipment is available on a first-come, first-serviced basis. We recommend that requests be made at least a week in advance.

Current equipment rental rates, delivery fees and hourly labor rates are listed below. Please note that the equipment pricing listed is an approximate value based on typical requirements, and therefore the actual cost may vary. The AV Services group will confirm the specific requirements after the request is submitted using the form below.  If requested, a preliminary invoice can also be sent for requests that are billable. 

Videoconferencing, Mediasite and Video Recording Services

AV now offers video recording services at an hourly rate.  Presently, recordings are made to videotape but these can be converted to DVD at the clients request as well as a minimal amount of editing.  All post-shoot services are conducted based on technician availability and, likewise, are charged at an hourly rate.  Rush service is generally not available for recording or post-production requests.  Video camera rental is $125.00 per event per day.  Equipment is not rented separately from our service.  Mediasite and Videoconferencing services are priced by the hour, day or month.  All post-production services are, likewise, conducted based on technician availability and are charged at an hourly rate.

Pricing for Videoconferencing and Mediasite

Mediasite recorder rental: $150/day

Mediasite recording, technician, and 6 months of content hosting: $150/hour

Mediasite hosting: $250/presentation/year

Videoconference - technician and equipment:  $75/hour

Videoconference bridge: $50/conference

Videoconference endpoint equipment rental: $150/day

Academic Courses
There is no charge for AV equipment for academic courses that have a confirmed room assignment in a General Pool Classroom on the Homewood Campus during regular business hours (M-F 7:30AM-6:30PM).  Please complete the form below for each class that has an AV need.  AV equipment is available on a first-come first-served basis.  Additional permanently-installed AV equipment has also recently been added to nearly all General Pool classrooms, so please check with the Registrar if you are unsure of what equipment is already installed in the assigned classroom. 

Meetings, Special Events and Conferences
Normal hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7:30AM-6:30PM. 
As of July 1st, 2006, a $27 Delivery/Setup Fee will be included on all AV Equipment Requests
Labor rates for AV Technicians are:
$27/hr M-F 7:30AM-6:30PM
$34/hr M-F before 7:30AM and after 6:30PM and all day Saturday, Sunday and University Holidays (billed in 4 hr. increments with min. 4 hr charge) 
SAC Student Groups receive 50% discount on equipment costs
