Johns Hopkins Portal

Not too long after the introduction of the Web, the concept of a portal was developed to help users connect to the massive amounts data available on the Internet.  Some early examples of the Portal included MyYahoo, MyLycos and Netscape; many of which are still used today.  These publicly available general purpose portals attempt to aggregate news, applications, email and other services into a single interface based on a user's request.  Although these general purpose portals serve the broader internet population fairly well, they are unable to identify a user's more specific requests, i.e. professional or educational affiliations and specific tools and utilities offered from those resources.

Information Technology @ Johns Hopkins (IT@JH) has partnered with the Eisenhower Library (MSEL) to research, develop, and deploy its very own portal environment.  MyJH will provide fast and easy access to many of the Enterprise Services offered by IT@JH, as well as several resources offered by the Milton S. Eisenhower Library (MSEL).  All of this through a single web interface which you can access, personalize, and maintain from anywhere at anytime.  JHEM Email, Calendaring, and JShare Web File Sharing are among the features that will be included in MyJH, and more will come. It is fully integreated with JHED and the Enterprise Authentication, and a majority of the the JHED Web functionality has been ported into MyJH.  However, since it is in a quasi-production state, authentication is actually sequentially tried against the production JHED Directory and the test JHED Directory (JHEDjr).
